The Hinckley School Case Study

Welcome to the blog. Thank you for being here.

This blog actually began over 18 months ago, when I visited The Hinckley School to deliver a staff CPD session with the science department. Prior to that event, I spent some time with Adam Barnacle (Head of PE) in the PE office and Adam showed me the work he was doing with his qualification PE classes and how my provision at TheEverLearner.com fed into the department’s systems. I was deeply impressed. In fact, Adam’s description of how he works with students floored me. Adam and his team were doing things that I believe are at the cutting edge of classroom-based PE teaching.

For these reasons, I agreed with Adam that myself and my colleague Mark Mills (Business Manager - Service) would return to The Hinckley School a few months later and extract resources and explanations that allowed us to provide a case study to PE teachers about their model. I am delighted to announce that this case study is now ready for you to view (there are some lovely videos contained) and read.

The case study is, in my opinion, stunning. It is stunning because of the principles by which Adam and his colleagues work but also by the openness of Adam, his team and students to embrace new and challenging ideas and to implement protocols which are directly focussed on student learning.

Please, read the case study in its entirety and consider making a comment or observation at the end.

Finally, on a personal level, I want to thank Adam, the department at Hinckley, the senior leadership team and, above all, the students for providing this insight. I invite you to imagine what it feels like to me when I visit a school and a teacher shows me how my work has allowed them to remodel their practices. Not even Adam knows the impact this experience had on me. My deepest gratitude for everything you do, Adam. You not only made my day during that visit but you actually made my year.

So, here it is (click the preview to read)…
