What brought you to the SCLA program?

Joining the SCLA program is a strategic move in my career growth journey. Recognizing the need for continuous development and acquiring new skills, I’ve chosen the SCLA program as a steppingstone to enhance my professional capabilities. The program’s comprehensive curriculum and focus on Administration and leadership align perfectly with my aspirations to continue my growth within college athletics.

What do you hope to do upon completion of the SCLA program?

Upon completing the SCLA program, my ambition is to transition into a role as a Sports Administrator or Director of Operations. This career path aligns with my passion for sports and my desire to take on a more strategic and influential position. The program will serve as a critical measure in achieving this goal, preparing me for the challenges and responsibilities that will come with operations and administration.

What are some highlights of your time in the SCLA program so far?

My top highlight of my time in the SCLA program is the invaluable connections and relationships I’ve built with my classmates and professors. Being able to engage and connect with fellow peers, instructors, and industry professionals has enriched my experience, providing a network of support for after I graduate. These connections have not only enhanced my learning through diverse perspectives but also opened doors to potential collaborations and opportunities in the sports industry in the future.

What has been your favorite SCLA course so far and why?

Without a doubt, my favorite SCLA course thus far has been the “Special Topics” (KIN 850) course taught by Dr. Sanghoon Kim. What sets this course apart is the inclusion of guest speakers who brought real-world insights and expertise directly into the classroom; admittedly, I might be biased, as I have a great respect and admiration for my colleagues (guest speakers) Dr. Ashley Baker and Ashton Henderson. Their firsthand knowledge has not only enhanced my learning but has also provided valuable networking opportunities. Connecting with these sport experts has allowed me to ask questions, seek advice, and build relationships that extend beyond the classroom.

Fun fact about Lexi
