The Relentless School Nurse: Examining the Innovativeness of Nurses

Marion Leary, MSN, MPH, RN is completing her Ph.D. and is in the final phases of her program! She is examining innovation in nursing, a much-needed area of study that has limited research. If you are a nurse that has participated in any innovation activities in the past three years, you could add to new knowledge! Below is information about the research study, including IRB approval, and a link to the brief survey!

Ph.D. Dissertation Survey – Examining the Innovativeness of Nurses

Are you a nurse that has participated in an innovation, human-centered design, or design thinking activity, course, fellowship, workshop, lecture, or other innovation event (e.g. hackathon, accelerator, pitch event) in the last three years?

If so, please consider completing this short survey as a part of dissertation work being performed by Marion Leary, RN, MSN, MPH at the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing entitled: Examining the Innovativeness of Nurses.

The purpose of this study is to expand the limited findings in this area by examining innovativeness in nurses in the United States who show interest in innovation by engaging in activities that encourage innovative behavior. Overall, this study will provide insight into how to create curricula that enhances these characteristics and prepares nurses to engage in innovative behaviors earlier in their careers. In addition, it will also allow us to better integrate nurse innovators in the workforce and assist with creating team structures that foster innovative behaviors.

This study has been approved by the University of Pennsylvania Institutional Review Board: Protocol # 852671.

The survey should take no more than 10-15 minutes to complete. Please share with your colleagues and on social media.
