Holiday Caroling Tag – Game of the Week

For the next few weeks, I’ll be posting a holiday game of the week. Don’t miss out! Be sure to subscribe for notifications. This week’s game is called, HOLIDAY CAROLING TAG.

Scrooge, Grinch, and Jack Frost are once again feeling grumpy this holiday season. They decide to form an alliance to cast a spell on anyone and everyone with the goal of spoiling their holiday spirit.  Anyone tagged by the trio is frozen and their holiday spirit is taken away. The only way to break the spell is for two other carolers to hold hands around the frozen caroler and sing the first line of any holiday song… LOUDLY! Linked carolers can NOT be tagged. I don’t play music during the game. Instead, it’s fun for everyone to listen to each sing their holiday carols.

All you need is an open play area and three implements for Scrooge, Jack Frost, and the Grinch to tag with. I like to use gator balls including green for Grinch, red for Scrooge, and blue for Jack Frost.

Prior to the game, we have a group discussion about caroling. This gives us an opportunity to brainstorm as many holiday songs as possible. In the discussion students are encouraged to think of Christmas, Hanukkah, and Kwanzaa songs.
