Boo hoo. My favourite teams in the NCAA basketball tournament are gone. My alma mater, Wisconsin, was hammered by my second favorite team, Cinderella squad, Davidson. Then on Sunday, Davidson was beaten by Kansas. However, an incident in the Stanford versus Marquette game highlighted a coaching tactic that I really hate. The Stanford coach was ejected for walking onto the floor in order to continue complaining about a referee’s call.

Jessica is a physical education teacher at Lewiston High School in Lewiston, Idaho teaching. strength training, dance, yoga and lifetime fitness classes. She is the 2012 SHAPE National Middle School. Teacher of the Year and has served SHAPE America in several capacities over the years on curriculum. committees, P.E. councils and the Idaho executive board.

Equipment Needed: A DuraCoat Coated-Foam Ball (7”) for each student, music. This game consists of three parts: “dribble and freeze” drill, “pinball” kicking, and finding a “new ball”. “Dribble” Drill: The game begins with the teacher yelling “DRIBBLE” and each student must use the inside of their feet to dribble their ball. On the word “FREEZE”, the students must trap their ball by placing their foot on top of it.
