I have a deep appreciation for my colleagues at Northwell Health for inviting me to talk about the impact of gun violence on children and how we can support our youth. I was a panelist for Northwell’s Gun Violence Learning Collaborative in March of 2022. The YouTube is linked below.
Our conversation continued and was published as an article in The Well, also linked in this blog post. Health journalist, Joy Harrington did a phenomenal job capturing our discussion in the newly released article.
Once again, the power of social media opened doors for powerful interprofessional collaborations. The Director of Northwell’s Gun Violence Prevention Center, Dr. Chethan Sathya, MD MSCE, and I were introduced on Twitter. It has been a professional and personal honor to contribute to conversations about the impact of gun violence in schools and how we can create healing-centered environments for our children and youth. We have to promote a culture of belonging in our school communities because it is a connectedness that students need to thrive and flourish.
