The Relentless School Nurse: Thank you Project N95 for Providing Protection

Relentless School Nurse

Today is our first day back to school after a much-needed holiday break. My Camden, New Jersey school district is one of two in NJ that is instituting a temporary return to universal masking following our break. I am so thankful to the team at Project N95 for providing more than 7,000 adult and 5,000 preschool-size masks for my district. The power of social media once again offers connections that would have not been possible without relationships built, albeit virtual.

Reimagine the Role of PE to Reconnect With Your Students

Speaker: Jeremy Kellem, M.Ed. - Educational Strategist, Former Athlete, and CEO/Founder of W.I.N. (We Impact Now, LLC)

For many students, physical education is critical to becoming active and developing healthy routines. But how is this possible anymore with the repercussions of the pandemic? Years of COVID-19, social distancing, and virtual learning have all had a profound effect on students, which means educators need to adjust their classes accordingly. The good news is that P.E. can still play a vital role in helping students intellectually, emotionally, physically, and socially.

Creating the opportunity to learn

Learning Through Sport

It has long been argued that teaching and coaching must be based on sound, rigorous research and systematic evidence of what works, how and why it works, where it works and for whom it works (Slavin, 2002). Teaching and coaching often relies on idiosyncratic (Mosston & Ashworth, 2008) and incomplete, inaccurate or 'folk' understanding of research and evidence, what Green (2000) described as 'everyday philosophies' of practice.

How Physical Education Plays a Core Role in Student Development

The “Sleep It Off” Misconception

Physical Education Update

As we turn the page on another year, I can’t help but think about a tragedy that marked the end of 2009. Two young men, who had been best friends since childhood, attended a Christmas party where they consumed, as young people often do, a significant amount of alcohol. Instead of driving home inebriated, they did the right thing and stayed over at the host’s house so they could “sleep it off.” After a few hours of sleep and assuming they were OK to drive, they headed for
