Heather Simpson and Lydia Greene have equally compelling stories to tell about their journey from ardent anti-vax social media influencers to pro-vax activists. Their perspective from inside the anti-vax movement reveals how rampant disinformation and misinformation are used to weaponize new moms to become anti-vax too. I first heard their memorable presentations at a conference focused on building immunization confidence. Of all of the presentations at the conference, theirs opened a doorway into a world that I had not understood. I now have a much clearer perspective on how two moms, who loved their children, got caught up in a world of anti-vax propaganda under the guise of “community” for parents who are seeking information in all the wrong places.
Heather and Lydia are now on a mission to bring evidence-based information to debunk the massive anti-vax propaganda movement that has infected so many parents. They just released Vaccine Fears Overturned by Facts, sponsored by the Immunize Kansas Coalition

WE ARE HEATHER SIMPSON AND LYDIA GREENE, 2 FORMER ANTIVAX MOMS, ON A JOURNEY BACK TO EVIDENCE-BASED MEDICINE.
Heather Simpson is a mom who was popular in the anti-vax community as the mom who dressed as measles for Halloween, the least scary thing she could think of. She also made multiple viral anti-vax polls on Facebook.
Lydia Greene was an anti-vaxxer for 12 years and wrote a story on her journey to changing her mind, and bringing her 3 children up to date. She is now in nursing school to get into public health, to deal with vaccine hesitancy on the front lines.
Together we share our story with anyone that will hear us. To our surprise, we have been welcomed back with open arms. We now give other people like us support and a platform to share their experiences if they choose to.
