What’s up Phys Ed Fam!
I just wanted to share this fun little idea with you that I use to help motivate myself to remember student names and also just to create a fun little interaction with my students.
I recently started this system where I give my kids a pushup coupon any time I get their name wrong. It’s a fun way to motivate myself to remember names and the kids get a kick out of it.
I normally give myself about 5 weeks into the school year to learn all the new students and Kindergarteners before I start this system.
Check out the video below for a quick explanation of how it works:
First things first, I have to give full credit to the incredible Phys Ed Teacher Jim DeLine for this idea.
Jim heard me talking about the importance of learning student names at a conference and then pulled me aside and told me about how he used Pushup Coupons as motivation to learn student names.
I thought it was an awesome idea and started implementing it after about 5 weeks of school.
If I ever call a student by the wrong name, they get a coupon which can be redeemed at ANY time for 5 pushups from me (when I’m teaching, in the hallways, cafeteria etc).
Of course, you can use them for any type of reward, or any way you want, make it work for you and your program.
Worst case scenario… you get really strong from doing a ton of pushups 😂
Download the coupons I use below:
If you try it out, hit me up on social after your first year and let me know the craziest place your kids made you do 5 pushups!
