A brief history of the Bruins
The Boston Bruins were the third of the original six teams to be founded in the National Hockey League, and the first team in the United States.
Founded on November 1, 1924 by Charles Francis Adams, it is rumoured that Adams paid the league $15,000 to let them in.
The team played and won their first game in history against the Montreal Maroons 2-1, just a month after their foundation on December 1, 1924.
If you're wondering: no, this is not the same hockey club as the Montreal Canadiens, as the Maroons only lasted 14 years.
In 1936, management turned over to Art Ross. Ross now has a trophy named after him for the hockey player that produces the most points in a season.
The Bruins have generated a few Stanley Cups and more than their share of superstars.

In its history, the Bruins have won six Stanley Cups in 13 appearances.
They won in 1928-1929, 1938-1939, 1940-1941, 1969-1970, 1971-1972 and 2010-2011.

Bobby Orr

He has the most famous picture of his generation. This is an image of him flying through the air after scoring a winning goal.
This goal caused the Bruins to win the Stanley Cup in 1970, on Mother’s Day.
During his time in the NHL, Orr had numerous accomplishments.
He received two Stanley Cups, nine All Star games, eight Norris trophies, two Ross trophies, two Conn Smythe trophies, Smythe Trophy, three Hart trophies and the 1974-1975 Pearson award winner.
Zdeno Chara
Chara is big, strong and tall!
The 6 '9, 250 pound defenseman from Czechoslovakia shoots with his left hand, and he won the 2008-2009 Norris Trophy and the 2010-2011 Messier award.
Phil Esposito
Phil Esposito played on the same line as Bobby Orr, and he also played with his left hand.
Esposito was part of two of their Stanley Cup teams.
He won five Ross trophies, two Pearson awards and two Hart trophies.

During his time with the Bruins, Bucyk made two All Star teams and he won the Byng Memorial trophy twice.
Why do the Bruins play in black and gold?
When Charles Adams first founded the Boston Bruins, he actually chose brown and gold uniforms for the team.
This is because his booming business, First National, used the same color scheme. These uniforms remained the same for 10 years.
In 1934, the team switched to black and gold uniforms. This is because Weston Adams, son of Charles Adams, didn’t like the color brown as much as his father.
Ever since then, the Bruins have played in black and gold!

A history of the famous Boston Bruins logo throughout the years!
1924-1926
The Bruins logo at this time had yellow letters with a brown background, a bear in the middle and the word “Boston” angled in big letters.
1926-1932
The logo creator removed the background at this time, also changing the font size and angle.
1932-1934
During this period, they took out the picture of a bear and simply used the letter “B” with a brown and yellow outline.
1934-1948
The brown outline changed to black between 1948-1949. There was a colored in brown “B” with a black and yellow outline, as well as number “24” on the left, and “49” on the right.
The logo used 24 to show when the Bruins were founded. 49 is when the Bruins entered the Garden.
1949-1995
This version of the Bruins logo is much closer to the modern-day logo. The logo featured a black “B” with a yellow outline and lines, as well as a black circle.
These lines are supposed to signify the fact that all roads lead to Boston. It is a representation of the transportation system in the Boston area.
1995-2007
During this period, the logo included a bigger “B”, and a thin, yellow outline, as well as new trim accents placed around the border.
2007-Today
This logo is supposed to be a combination of the 1996 and 1933 logos, including a smaller “B” with black accents.
