Winning the Inner Chatter Battle

The morning wake up battle is real for many.
So (can be) is the battle with the thousands of daily thoughts in your head.

Add in the comforts of lying in a warm bed for another 15-60 minutes and the ease of doom-scrolling through your smart phone, and you’re setting yourself up for a morning battle you likely won’t win.

The latest research tells us that the human brain, on average, has 6,200 thoughts per day. Not long ago that number was 20K and then somewhere out in the Google web, they’ll tell you 70K thoughts a day.

And that’s not delving into the positive thoughts versus the negative, the morning thoughts versus the pre-sleep thoughts. There’s an entire universe of thought about thoughts. I’ll stick with the low end of the scale, 6,200 thoughts a day, and how we can better manage that.

And maybe, just maybe, help and show the kids that there’s a better way.

6,200! Seriously though, that’s roughly 6 thoughts per minute if you’re getting 7 hours of sleep. Just put that into perspective, 6 thoughts per minute or a new thought ever 10 seconds. How to keep life straight! Again, add in the growing number of distractions and emotions, the wars, the politics, the pandemic and all the other negative vibes of life, no wonder we are losing our collective minds (and souls).

A couple leading ventures for me in ‘22, are one, to get AKA SPARK successfully off the ground, and two, to hopefully influence a few more people to really seize your mornings, more than ever before! And let’s do it for the kids too!

We can all do better for ourselves and lead the youthful ones in our lives, on minimizing distractions and focus on the positive aspects of the day.

Sure, it takes discipline and minor planning. But with discipline and motivating goals, come routines to succeed. Add in some sort of exercise, light or heavy, throw in a glass of lemon water and hearty protein shake and you’re on your way. ((I’ll spare you the morning walks and meditation rant, today, but you know where I’m at.))

So I’m just suggesting, with over 6,000 thoughts a day already, do yourself a favor and rid the outside noise. Embrace the positives in all of your inner chatter. Put the phone down and turn the news off if possible. Yeah, its cold out, did you need the tv to tell you that? Attack the day with positive thoughts… God knows they’re somewhere in all those thousands. Be well Good People. -CS
