2021 Summer Wrap - The Best is yet to Come

A new quarter means a new month, which for me, translates to new energy to the process. By going all out, personally, for the unforeseeable future, and since no one really reads this Blog anyways, I’m going a bit brazen on this one. Forever grateful, blissfully unsatisfied (Ed Mylett), passion in the bones, thank you for your time.

This past September was a typical one.  Loaded with post-summer-Camp-grind rest and recovery and absolutely gorgeous Minnesota weather.  But this September’s recovery was different.  This one had a new, refreshingly charged spirit about it.

This September I had a full team in the office (not just 1 or 2 of us like the previous 10 years), reviewing and readying for the future.  And come Labor Day, we had just completed a 16-month run of non-stop programming (2020 Summer Camps > AKA School Time / After School Programs > 2021 Summer Camps) engulf in an unforgiveable pandemic.

I’m beyond proud of my Staff, all 86 of us, and of what we accomplished and where we are going as an organization.

And no, I’m not afraid of the parents who call us out for the negatives.  We hear you and can’t thank you enough for that.  Negatives have always driven me and now our A-team is taking these on too.  We won’t stop until we feel we have fixed it all!  (post-summer camp survey is still open)

You’re darn right, I know about the uptick in bullying in the program.  It’s astounding and at the top of my list!

The COVID mask wearing management, no doubt, not easy.  The countless kickballs and tennis balls that your kid took to the face, we can do better.  The uncomfortable indoor facility temps…got it, taking care of this to the best of our ability.

But look deeper. Look at the Staff and the love and care they give to your kids.  Look at the socially active opportunities to which we present to your kids.

We’ll never be perfect but make no doubt about it, our mission drives us to make constant improvements.  We’ll bring that elevated passion bigger and better for years to come!

Endless opportunities through sport and social recreation… more Sports, Recreation, Field Trips, Friends, Mentors, the Great Outdoors, Nutrition, Steam Programming, Bettering our Summer Reading efforts…  I know how AKASPORT will grow for generations to come, creating new programming and add-ons to current programs, for all types of kids and athletes from all types of backgrounds.

And if you knew anything about me, you’d know that I won’t stop until I am serving a million kids and helping countless others succeed with their dreams.  That’s who I am and that’s what the #AKAWay is.  Be smart out there and thanks for playing!

See you soon, Chris

If you’re not willing to Risk, you can’t Grow.  And if you can’t Grow, you can’t become your Best.  And if you can’t become your Best, you can’t be happy and if you can’t be Happy, well… what else is there?
