Excellent Anti-Smoking Video to Discuss in Health Class

Physical Education Update

Here’s a video you might discuss in your health classes. From Thailand (with sub-titles), it’s billed as one of the best anti-smoking ads ever. And indeed, it was highly effective in increasing the number of telephone inquires by Thais wanting to quit smoking. The video shows the reaction of young adults (and teens), when approached by a child asking for a light for a cigarette.

Now that it is already almost August, the new school year is right around the corner! I had an excellent summer, with the highlight being spending a little less than a week in Playa del Carmen. It was an amazing trip, and one of my favorite things was this epic show that went through the history of Mexico. To my luck, they had athlete / actors play the Juego de Maya (Mesoamerica), and it was super cool to watch as they portrayed the myth of the twins playing against the gods of the underworld.

Florida commit Aidan Mizell used real alligators in his commitment

With the reveal he would be attending Florida, wide receiver Aidan Mizell walked behind the Boone High School (Orlando, Fla.) sign to prove his commitment to the program. He emerged with real, living gators. There was a cry of excitement from the crowd as he approached the microphone once again with the small alligators, presumably babies, and spoke to the audience.
