Emergency Faculty

Slow Chat PE

The dreaded email arrives at night. We are having an emergency faculty meeting before school tomorrow. Your heart immediately sinks. You have already heard the whispers. You know something terrible has happened. You rush to school. The meeting has started. It sucks. Everyone is crying or awkwardly standing around. The proverbial black cloud has arrived and will not leave anytime soon.

The Educator Conference on Human Connection #ECHC2023

Slow Chat PE

This weekend I saw reality bend to an individual. This is not hyperbole, embellishment, or exaggeration. This school year I am working remotely and my kids ages 10, 8, and 6 had the option to stay home or go to school. My wife and I made the decision to keep them home because we know schools are petri dishes for airborne diseases.

Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom

Slow Chat PE

Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom is a movie on Netflix. It is Chadwick Boseman’s final movie ever. That is literally all I knew about the film when it came out. Truthfully, what else do you need to know? I round up my people and ask them if they want to do a Netflix party (now Teleparty) and watch it together. We watched the movie typing away in the chat box.

White Toxic Masculinity: Written For White Males by White Males

Slow Chat PE

This blog post was a collaboration between Justin Schleider and Doug Timm. We are good friends as well as accountability partner. We both believe in and are actively working towards Collective Liberation. Together we, Doug and Justin, (his name goes first because of alphabetical order not because he did more work or is more important although we let him think that) feel a drive and commitment to offer our voices and ideas to issues we feel are important.
